Approach
One day the moment of divine inspiration will not come. It never came for Einstein. Or Elmo. Or Drake. Or Beyonce. Or Beethoven. Because it doesn’t come in a moment. It comes in millions of moments. Not in a spark, or a flash, or light bulb. But inspiration comes together like a pantry.
You go out into the world and you come across ingredients that sound good, or look weird, or seem interesting, and you reach out and grab them with no clear plan. A random thought. A can of green beans. A suggestion from your great Aunt Edna. A book you think you’re supposed to read. A Podcast about a haunted wine cellar. A shark, hot sauce, a song about a canoe, straws, a joke, noodles, a line from a movie, star anise and leftover spices from a hundreds of recipes you’ve tried to make before.
Your pantry fills up with these seemingly random ingredients. And hopefully it’s filled to the brim. Because whatever you put in that pantry, is what you have to cook with.
